Apr 2, 2020 · Now that I think about it, the 120gr Sierra Prohunter is a tougher bullet that at reduced loads is not the best hunting option, its tougher than the ballistic tip and is better for practice than actual hunting. This bullet is better at normal 7mm-08 speeds and at closer ranges to ensure proper expansion. I would use neither of them for shooting a 150gr bullet in 7mm-08, especially for a hunting load. Better choices would be H414, or Alliant Power Pro 2000, or one of the 4350's. You'll get better case fill, and higher velocities. I don't have a full power load for that particular bullet, but I have a really great reduced load. 8.5 grains of Red Dot to start, working your way up toward a MAX of 10.0 by tenths. The best accuracy seems to be around 9 grains +/-.

Those 175s are certainly long and can eat up a bunch of room inside the case; using a ball powder will help combat that fact.
