I then went to my work laptop and set dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled to true (it was previously false). That fixed the problem. Looks like that was the actual cause of the problem. I had change some settings in about:config in the past, but since making those changes, i hadn't tested twitter. Setting to True fixed it.
